The method I have settled on is to let the air out of the tires then mask with 3-M tape, pushing it up under the rim. Then I use newspaper to wrap the whole tire, therefore no overspray anywhere. When dry, unwrap and air the tire back up. I have never had any luck mounting the tires after a slick paint job, always manage to scratch it up.
