Kids will be kids and do dumb stuff. But they need to be held accountable. The real problem here is with the mother. When I did something similar my mother is the one who found out. She made me pay restitution and then work for the neighbor all summer in addition. It was the right thing to do. I thank god for my mother every day, may she rest in peace.
