I remember as a boy a neighbor relating this story to my father. The neighbor was having trouble with gasoline being stolen from his bulk tank (on a 7' stand as they used to be) and he couldn't catch the culprit. So, he shut the fuel off at the tank drained the hose and filled the hose with water. Next morning another neighbor's kid's car was stopped just down the road.
