The Kubota "L" series are still compacts, and very light. (weight + built) It's 2wd so it's going to have a hard time pulling anything in less than excelent conditions, and being 2wd he will have a hard time getting much for it. Compacts are way too light let alone without 4wd.
If you are thinking Kubota, you need the "M" series, as that's there "utility tractor" models. They are built a whole lot stronger than the "L" series.
