Dave, I just measured my 1951 VAC with the hubs in the "normal" configuration and placed very near the end of the axle. 72" from outside of one tire to the outside of the other. I have never readjusted mine but they are movable if they are not chemically bonded by age to the axle. Some parts are cast iron so hammering is to be done gently. It appears if the fenders were off that the width could be shrunk to about 50". Hope this helped. Lew Van Vliet, Wisconsin. Yes it is cold out and I measured fast but my answer has no more than a 4% error margin. That's better than most polls.
