I read an article in an automotive trade journal some years ago while waiting to pick up my car at a dealership. I wish I had kept the magazine but here's what the article was about. A taxi fleet in New York City was part of a study comparing house brand oil (such as Walmart stuff, etc.) with a well-known nationally advertised top-end oil (say for example Quaker State, etc.). A certain number of brand new cabs ran the house brand while an equal number ran the supposed "better stuff". After a certain mileage (whatever it was) all the engines were torn down and compared for wear tolerances, etc. The conclusion of the study showed there was no appreciable difference between the engines in the two test groups of cabs. Now, that's not just one of us claiming one thing or another, that was a scientifically controlled study with a fair number of engines involved. Enough said I guess, but there will still be some of us who go one way and some who will go the other.
