Be glad it "isn't" American made when it comes to small gas engines, especially Briggs!!
The 3 cycl. gas and diesels are made by Diahatsu sp.? as was already said. The 1 and 2 cyclinder OHV's are made in Japan too, one by Mitsubishi and i forget who makes the other.
Honda makes the best small gas engines i've ever had the pleasure to use!! I have a 4" Kubota pump that has been excelent too.
