For unknown reasons, the pony motor is often referred to as a "billy goat" or just plain "goat" in the northwest, especially in reference to Caterpillars. They seem to be something of a problem, giving rise to the standard ad "Cat D8-2U- runs good, tracks and undercarriage 60%, goat needs work".
