We use starting engines on our 70,720 and 80 and would never consider converting to a electric start.
A little care, clean oil,clean fuel,clean plugs, remember to shut the gasoline valve off and they will crank that diesel and start it on the coldest of days.
I'm not so busy I can't enjoy the sound of that little screamer thumping the diesel over.
Plus rotating the diesel without fuel and compression as part of the proper start-up proceedure.It pre-lubes the bearing before significant loading occurs, as per the operator's manual.
By the time you add up the cost of the new starter, higher voltage charging system, two huge batteries every couple of years, a new battery box to mount the batteries in, your time and how much the 720 has lost value . It's cheaper to keep the starting engine
