The voltage regulator on your original generator no doubt had a terminal labeled "L" on it as in "LIGHTS". This terminal is connected to the generator output ahead of the cutout unit in the voltage regulator that disconnects the generator form the battery when you shut off the tractor (or the generator fails). Find the wire that was connected to the "L" terminal, connect it to battery power, and your lights should work again, but they will not shut of automatically when you shut off the tractor. If you were to connect the lights to the ignition switch, the ignition switch would probably be overloaded, as it was not designed for this extra load, but by connectiong direct to battery power, and remembering to shut off the lights when shutting down the tractor, you should be OK. It would be good practice to use an appropriately sized fuse or fusible link in the power wire from battery power for safety reasons, in case of a short.
