THE COOLING SYSTEM ON YOUR TRACTOR WORKS IN THIS FASHION, THE WATER PUMP SENDS COOLANT THROUGH THE ENGINE THEN IF THE TEMPERATURE IS NOT HIGH ENOUGH THE THERMOSTAT IS CLOSED AND THE ONLY COOLANT FLOWING IS THROUGH THE BYPASS. IF THE COOLANT IS HOT ENOUGH TO OPEN THE THERMOSTAT IT THEN TRAVELS FROM THE HOT ENGINE TO THE TOP OF THE RADIATOR WHERE IT IS COOLED AS IT MOVES DOWN THROUGH THE RADIATOR. THUS THE LOWER RADIATOR HOSE SHOULD BE THE COOLEST PLACE IN THE SYSTEM. MY ADVICE TO THE BOTH OF YOU IS TO PUT IN A 210*F THERMOSTAT. ANOTHER OPTION IS TO PUT A PIECE OF CARDBOARD OVER ABOUT 2/3- 3/4 OF YOUR RADIATOR IN THE WINTER TIME. P.S. IF YOU USE THIS LATTER METHOD WATCH YOUR TEMP GAUGE!
