Check Kountry Life- short article said 1 ton of hay for winter per cow or horse=40 bales @50lb. Previous experience winter -1 bale a day for 2 dry cows and 2 half grown calves weaned + 2 coffee cans of cracked shelled corn+ graze harvested bean/corn field about 1/2 winter. This in Iowa. Pasture last year for 2 cows, 1 steer, 2 calves was 3 small plots rotated about 5 acres total included grove+ some corn. try 2-4 acres pasture -2 plots alternated for graze 1 calf up to 1000lbs butcher weight. have good fences+ water and shelter. 5 acres hay ground- 3 cuttings fed cows, calves, sisters horses, neighbors pony and steer, sold some for 4 other horses.
