Well boys, I'm usually the last person to do any belly aching about things. Normally try to help others negotiate things best I can. I'm gettin a little concerned about my hobby and the way it seems to be going. Maybe I'm wrong but in my little old opinion it seems like the hobby of antique tractoring is turning into a rich man's hobby or at least the parts providers are trying to send it that way. I've been tryin this winter to get some of the old equipment purrin again so it'll be ready for next year. We used to be bad about waitin till it was the day we needed a tractor or machine to get it goin. Just a family disfunction I reckon. Anyway, I decided to change that and get my stuff in order before hand. My farmall A had a shot right brake. Gonna cost me about 60 bucks or so. Lookin to get an old H John Deere runnin so I can dig in the corn a little with the cultivators. Costin me about 14-20 bucks for wires, around 10 or so for the battery ground cable, and about 100 bucks or so for the dad blame muffler. Now, I know that a couple of years back when we put a new muffler on our 420 it only set us back around 20-25 bucks. It really concerns me that parts like this are startin to run up so high. I am by no means a rich man. The good Lord has saw fit to put food on my table and a roof over my head. I don't ask for no more. But I do enjoy workin on these old machines and won't be able to afford to much longer if things keep movin like this. I just can't connect the fact that tractors are sellin used for around 1500-2000, and some of those so gently used that they look new, and then parts for the people who buy and restore 'em cost unreasonable amounts. I apologize for belly achin like this but I know that you all have probably run into the same predicament and can sympathize with me. Thank ya for your time friends. God bless.
