I posted about the same question a few days ago.I am about ready to split my JD 5020, which is over 100 hp. It was suggested not to relay on blocks to hold up the front. I made a very sturdy brace from 1"X5"X4ft.steel across the bottom of the front portion, and secured it to the side rails near the rear of the motor. I can now put a large screw jack on each side to support the front, or raise one side at a time if needed for reassembly. I still will put blocks under my support for extra safety. I am going to use a large floor jack to support the rear, and roll the back portion out.
