Thanks for the info guys,I know Gene is right about the hobby thing . I bought a big countertop saw for my countertop and cabinet shop in mn.and took my delivery truck up there to get it . At the first scale house they had a sign up that all trucks must stop, so I did and they called me in and asked where I was going and all that . So I tell them and they inform me that since I was going to use this saw to make money , that i was in a whole new category and a whole lot of trouble.Basicaly I had to have about the same stuff as commercial truck.I don't know if they were just pickin my pocket or not,but I do know it cost me about 250 bucks.Then they pulled me around back for a D.O.T inspection .The old truck had a 2-53 detroit in it ,and of course it leaked a little oil and I think it had a light or something out, so they red tagged the truck ! They were nice enough to take me to a hotel and not to jail.While I was in the thing there some guy in a dually pulling an empty gooseneck run the scale and they chased him down and drug him in there and was giving him a bad time.I had to leave to go to the DOT party so I don't what they done to him.Then to add injury to insult about 3 months later they sent me bill for another fifty bucks for something,I never did know what that was for,I just mailed a check. So that was the last (I hope) go around with the Iowa DOT.I'm not too fond of those guys.
