The key to this kind of deal is to have an agreement as to just how long you will hold the merchandise, etc.- then write a "confirming letter" to the customer, reciting the deal. If he doesn't dispute the deal as set forth in the confirming letter, the courts will generally hold him to those terms (and let you out of the deal if the time agreed to has passed without performance). Disclaimer- this is not legal advice, just a humble opinion, and may not work in your case. Some assembly required, your parents have to put it together. Your mileage may vary.
