Look at the Northern Industrial (previously Northern Hydraulics) catalog. They have transfer boxes for around $300.00, exactly what you need to connect a gen set to selected circuits. You have to pick which circuits to transfer (be sure to calculate the load so you don't overload your generator) and the run them through the transfer box. If you don't know electric wiring, you should get a licensed electrician to do the hookup for you.
