I saw the torque and horsepower ratings for
the TOY V/8 and if the figures were right (Max
torque at something like 2500 rpm and max
h.p. @ 3500) then I figure it will perform
UNDER LOAD about like a 302 Ford.
Compare the 302 Ford V/8 to the 300 Ford 6
(with the same tranny and rear end gears) and
you will see what I'm getting at. The 300 will
bury the 302 when it comes to usuable power
as it makes it's max. torque below 2000 rpm
and is pretty much all done at 3500 rpm (time
to upshift); in other words, it's a truck engine,
not a car motor in a truck! If you are hauling
loads there is no substitute for cubic inches
and the right cam .
