Spend as much as you want... When my wife and I got married we did it on the last day of september(last day before Moose hunting season!) and got some terrific deals because of being late in the year and on a sunday. Got the inside and outside portions of the hall for one price, Limo was half off, photographer threw in extra prints, flowers were like 1/3 off. We used a hall outside of the big city which saved much money. Also got a small town DJ which saved much. Remember that the pricey weddings are largely in the big cities. I've done some wedding videos and the rule of thumb here is that the closer to Boston it is the more they paid and the worse the food. We got married about 70 miles out and it wasn't too bad, and the food was great! We spent about $8k
