Ken first I would pull the distribtor out and inspect it for damage you could have sheared the pin off that holds the drive gear(now I've never pulled a wrench on a red machine just Green) so take it for what it's worth and by almeans make sure the shaft turns freely.My Deere's I usually take them apart and replace bushings,a sloppy bushing will make the old tractor do funny things,Ken I hope this helps a little.
