What ever you do don't buy a powerstroke Ford! They are a nightmare. Please don't buy a Dodge either, love the trucks and the cummins are nice but the tranny in the Dodge WILL go out unless it is a manual. My neighbor works for Chevy as a mechanic and has said that a about 150,000 those 6.5L will need a new injection pump. If you have the money get one of those new Duramax Diesel's from GM. They are great, real powerful and so quiet. Avoid a gasoline engine if at all possible.
