If you are crushing your cans for recycling, I would suggest asking the company you plan to sell them to if they will accept cans crushed every which way. And consider that you will have to pick up all the crushed cans after you have squashed them. It is pretty hard to beat the can squasher from Harbor Freight with the pull down handle. Mounted to a post or wall, it is possible to crush an awful lot of cans into a much smaller volume in a short time. Done right, you only handle the can once, when you load it. Once crushed it falls into a box underneath. My recycler has no problem with cans crushed this way. On the other hand, if you are fooling around seeing how many cans it takes to hold up your tractor or loader, I think you will be surprised at how strong they are, if you position them right, like a honeycomb, and apply the force evenly to their tops. But don't hurt yourself, they will crush kind of suddenly. Yeah, I do a little fooling around, once in a while...
