wiring

I had the voltage reg. off my BOLENS 1053, I have all the wires back on but a small wire [about 4 inches] one end is on the selenoid [the side that has the heavy wire that goes to the AMP on the srarter/gen.] I think the other end goes to the reg. but I dont know which post.
can anyone help me ?
