to work out the date from the engine serial no you would need to speak to someone in ford,but remember that the date from the engine should only be looked at as a rough guide as to how old the tractor is. mainly because of the fact that the engine could have been changed,or ford might have stocked it for some time before COUNTY purchased it. another way to roughly date the tactor is that if it has steel bonnets and a fordson super major front cowl it would have been produced in 1962, after which the tractor was produced with fibreglass bonnets and COUNTY's own front cowl. this continued until the tractor ceased production in 1965. there are ways to find out dates from the casting codes on the rear axle but are slightly confusing, and also a very rough guide again as they were produced by ford.
