That insulation was not just for retaining heat- it was primarily for sound-deadening. A cab without it is like sitting inside a tin can. I'd try a small palm sander or reciprocating sander with coarse grit paper, sand off whatever foam remains, not worry about the glue, and re-glue new foam in place. Cab kits are available for about $140 or you can buy foam in bulk and cut your own.
