No, traction alone wont do the job... I have pulled 12" stumps with my 50 hp Zetor 5245 4wd. The trick i use: I hook the chain on the top link of my 3p hitch earth bucket. The high attachment point gives some serious weight on the rear axle, to increase traction, and the bucket will make it impossible for the tractor to pull back over. When i have pulled the chain tight, i lift the bucket high up, and when the front axle is raised high enough, i let the bucket go up and down. This causes some SERIOUS peek forces, what will break about any root. Judt one advice: Always use your differential lock, otherwise your diff's satelite carrier shaft will wear out (like mine)
