Take a piece of wire and strip the ends off and
momentarily touch the terminal marked A(or gen.)to the terminal marked BAT(Battery) Should get a spark-thats all you need to do BUT be careful-DON"T TOUCH THE FIELD terminal on the regulator with the wire!!! Damage to the regulator will be INSTANT!! Hope this helps-morgan
