P.T.O. Setup for International 300

I recently purchased a international 300 utility tractor without a p. t.o -------- there is a metal plate, which is bolted were the p t o would go. My question is,are all international 300 utilities set up for the p t o ? Could I just purchase a p t o unite and bolt it on ?, or am I looking for a big job with replacing gears . Any help would be appreciated,
