Occasionally a chain will whip a bit if you really are pulling it hard. I had a 1/2 inch chain around a 10" hedge stump and was pulling with a Cat 939. A link gave way and the chain hit the back of the Cat pretty hard. I had visions of what that chain would have done to me had it come up a little higher. I would have dug the stump out but it's on the face of my pond dam, and I didn't want to slide the Cat into the water. The stump is still there........
