I have a late '80's 485. It is a 2WD with a Bushhog front end loader. It has been a good tractor for hay - , disk mowing, loading round bales, pulling 4x5 round baler. It is stronger and heavier than the MF 250 of the same horsepower that I replaced with it. The synchronized transmission is handy, if you ever get used to the strange gear shifter over on the left side. There seems to be a price to pay for the better power, though. The engine is louder under load than any comparably-sized tractor I have owned - I wear ear plugs when baling or other heavy work. The engine blows warm air into the operator area, which is a drawback in hot weather. Despite these small quirks, it is a good tractor.
