One of the most valuable inventions on tractors was the "3 point hitch" where there are two lift arms and a "top link" to allow lifting of mounted impliments. Forms a triangle with the top link at the top. NEVER PULL FROM ANY PART OF THE 3 POINT HITCH. A drawbar is a flat piece of steel which sticks straight out from the back of later (1960, generally) model tractors and attaches below the rear axle. This is your pull point. In used, I like Case (David Browns) 990, 1210, 1410 and Fords 5000-7710 series. If removing stumps is the plan I would recommend renting a dozer rather than using a tractor. It takes a lot of tractor to pull a little bit of stump. I just rented a 605 Deere dozer for $750 per week (from Hertz) and you can push out lots of stumps in a week. Then use the tractor to drag them off (I piled mine to burn next year and then bury). By renting you get what you need and don't have to worry about repairs.
