My first tractor in 1969 was a JD L, I added an Allis chalmers B, and a second Allis Chalmers B, and a Farmall F 20. Incidentally I traded the John Deere L in 1971 for the second Allis Chalmers B. I sold the F 20 and bought a John Deere H. I really began to learn farming with the John Deere H. I like when the 2 cylinders are lugging down and I can count the revolutions and see the tires surging. The Allis Chalmers B's were quick, and I liked them. I had a new IH 464, I was picking corn with a one row corn picker, the sky was clear, part way across the field it came up with such a snow storm I could barely see where the corn was going in the picker, a couple minutes later the sun was shining again. Later an Allis Chalmers C in 1980. I haven't had tractors since then, but now I've been working on a Baker Forklift FMD050 to use in my shop. I used to work in a shop that rebuilt engines and saw many different tractor engines, from back when they were still trying to invent the tractor, a lot of them were fascinating, I can't say which were the most interesting, the Minneapolis Molines were interesting they way they had the oil pans cast on, and the crankshaft came out through the rear. I'm planning to buy old junk tractors and equipment including industrial, fix them and sell them. If I can't fix them I'll sell parts and scrap metal, I sell scrap metal now household and business waste, any color tractor is fine with me.
