I have to agree, the age difference AT YOUR AGES is too much for this to work out for you long term. You are about to or have graduated from school and go on to a job or further schooling, or possibily the military. Your friend is still facing 3-4 years of high school. You are about to begin your adault life, she still has some years of being a teen ager. You probably don't see this, though. You are maybe ready for a serious long term relataionship, she is still feeling out dating probably and needs to date a bunch of guys before she can really decide on the right one for her. Stay friends, and if you two still feel the same in another 3-4 years you can get back together again. In the meantime you will have made some sort of a start in life, right? And she will maybe be old enough and had enough experience to tell if it will be right for her. Offer to take her on a casual date a few times a year. In the meantime, act responsible, make something of yourself, be a perfect gentleman, and her father will come around to thinking you a fine young man in time.
