Cub 140 Farmall

Ive got a 48 Cub. It has a IH Carb and Mag on it. Why. IH quit making their own mags and carbs in the 30s I thought, and Hs and Ms had distributors on them by the mid late 4os, so why did the cub have IH mags and carbs, and why did they have mag that late 48. Secondly. I work with a guy who thinks hes got a 140, which sounds famialier. or a 240 farmall made around 1966, and with a gear lift. I said he was crazy that IH quit gear lifts in the late 30s. My cub 48 has hyd so why wouldnt his 66 farmall have them also?? Thanks
