Did you prime the oil pump when you put engine back together? If not it may take a little bit to get oil clear up to the top of engine. I have overhauled a number of ford engines and I always primed the pump and turned pump by hand (fords oil pumps are driven by distributor shaft) using a little socket and extension and ratchet. I would ussually have to make several revolutions of the ratchet to get oil to come out some place. And I have put on new pumps that weren't any good and lost oil pressure shortly after initial start up. If I was you I would put the thing clear back together, start it up and see if it has oil pressure. If no pressure, immediately shut it off. You are not going to build up oil pressure turning it over with starter near like you will have when the engine is running.
