Is there any reason you are unable to ue a come-along to apply a steady pull to the rod and then heat the barrell? You are going to reseal it anyhow so what difference does it make if the seals get fried.
So if you fall into the category of either fool or amateur, then hook the hoses back up and let her rip!!!!
