I put a new deck on my car hauling trailer this summer. I used several gallons of boiled linseed oil on it, letting it soak in and ending up with a very thick coating and hopefully good penetration. If I had it to do over again, I think I would toss some fine sand over the wet oil--it is kind of slick when it is wet.

I hope it will increase the life of the new deck. The old one rotted badly, but I don't think anything was ever done to it.
