well lets see a good steady 17 would be nice for normal and a low steady would indicate a vacuum leak and a twitching needle would indicate possible valve problem. Should you have to purchase a gauge then it will have info. with it. Do make sure that you have a way to attach to manifold. Should you no have a vacuum gauge but do have a compression gauge do this. With the engine warmed up remove all plugs and turn over with a good battery. Check the FIRST stroke compression on each cylinder and if one is much lower than the others, therein is the possible problem.This may not indicate a sticky vavle though--Observing vacuum gauge over time will indicate sticky valves. Good luck I will check back later.
