I had a freeze plug style installed in my AC 175 three years ago when I bought it. I've got the Perkins diesel. I consider it a requirement to getting the engine started in cold weather. The ether sprayer on the engine works, but I really don't need it. I plug in the engine for 1.5-2 hrs and it kicks right over and starts. I need a battery with more cold cranking amps, but when the engine is warmed up with the block heater, it's no problem. I'd highly recommend it.
