You may find some variation in rates, but I have found that it costs me $.30 per loaded mile to haul a tractor home for any distance that includes an overnight stay. That includes all the direct costs of diesel, motel, meals, and a portion of the cost of an oil change. I add in part of the oil change cost due to the volume of oil ( four gallons in mine) and the filter being more expensive than a gasser.

If you consider this, the guys that do it for $1.00 per loaded mile and have insurance are not making much money.
