I get those blue 55 gal. drums from a friend who owns a plating shop.I store waste oil,bad gas and diesel in one.Never had a problem.I think he gets some pretty nasty chemicals shipped to his shop in them(chromium,M.E.K.,triclorothane-1,1,1 ect.)I dont think you will have any problem storing diesel in one.
