...listers worked best in sandy loams. They were a real PIA if the ground was rocky-tripped the beams all the time. Also you had to have lots of "practice" to know how to stay up on the ridges when using the eli or dragging-cultivating wasn't a problem, though. Corn & milo were usually about a foot shorter than what wasn't listed-enough that you could tell it was listed when you harvested it. (Another $0.02 worth. jal-SD)
