I know the terminology is different in other areas, but in the Texas panhandle, a lister was used to make the seedbeds. It had the middle busters to make the water furrows, and a set of row markers to help keep the furrows straight. I grew up on a farm in the 50s and 60s, and worked on one in the early 70s. I never ran a lister. I didn't drive straight enough for that. LOL One post mentioned it resembling a corn planter. Not here. The planting was done AFTER the field was listed. They're not used much around here anymore. almost nobody row-waters. It's mostly center pivot sprinklers so they don't need the deep water furrows. hope this helps Frank M.
