Check with a mechanic at a Ford shop nearby, back then I sure swapped out whole sets of automatic for manuals. Usually it was a direct swap, but have to get the thrust washers, snap rings, etc. For snow plowing the automatics just don't cut it, they latch going forward, and when you reverse, they unlatch, then relatch, just when you're getting on the gas, and those little plastic wedges don't like that too much. For a truck that is going to do real work, get manual/get out and twist em hubs. John
