What they labelled as Super Duty in those years is actually an F 450. If you look at the ID sticker inside the door jamb, it should show a GVW of around 14,900. A friend recently bought an 89, it seems to be a very stout truck. It is much more heavy duty than F 350. It has bigger frame, solid front axle, bigger rear axle, and suspension to match. The ride may not be too much fun, especially unloaded, rear gear will probably be somewhere around 4.88, give or take one ratio step. Fuel mileage and cruising speed will be less than a 350. Unless it has been severely abused, it should be pretty unbreakable. The engine will be basically the same as the 7.3 in the 350, but may have slightly different trim and HP if it is a different emissions class - not sure about the details on that. Check for water in oil and oil in water, some of these had cavitation problems.
