This Electro Cleaning deal......Where did I mess up?

Tried it,didnt do that good of a job.LEft it in there close to 48 hrs and virtually no change.Had front hubs for my F-14 in a good sized container,I think its a ten gallon container,about half full of water,five spponfuls maybe a little more,washing soda,positive charger lead on stanless rod almost completely submerged and about a half inch above the hub.Neg ative lead was connected to the hub itself.charger was reading about 2.5 amps on 10 amp rate on 12 volt.Didnt worry about precise cleaning,small flakes of paint and light grease,just trying to see if it would work.NO noticeable improvement in the rust removal.What did I do wrong?Do I need to try it longer or what?
