About the only similarity is that they are both Fordson models. The Major predates the Dexta by 8 years, the early models did not have live pto and had no draught control on the hydraulics. The engine was of Fordson design and went throgh many changes during the years the Major was manufactured.
The Dexta is a smaller tractor, it was made to provide farmers who really needed a smaller tractor than the Major. Roughly the Major is similar to a MF65 and the Dexta to the MF35. The engine is a modified Perkins P3 unit. The transmission is also a much newer design than the Major had.
