This could one several problems ,low battery voltage , bad starter drive(bendix) , wore teeth on flywheel , bad battery cables . This is a LUCAS starter we are talking about right. I,take the starter off and have a good shop or parts house test the starter first ,or if you, have volt meter check battery voltage on positive cable from battery to starter ,also might want to have battery load test when having the starter checked.
