ford oil leak

I appear to have a hydrolic oil leak at the bottom of the junction of the transmission and the rear end.
You can see where the gasket looks broken on the bottom of the joint. In the manual there are two o-rings along with the gasket. Question is:
Can I easily separate the two halves enough to replace the gasket and o-rings, possibly 1/2 to 1 inch? I can't tell from my manual if everything is splined and will slide apart enough. Or is this a major teardown repair? Thanks in advance.
