If the stand is large enough, you might consider contracting with a private forester. He will mark and scale the trees to be cut, monitor the logger, arrange for competitive bidding, etc. in other words work for your interests, for a percentage of the take. This is good especially if you or someone is not around to watch over things. Loggers are like everyone else, some good, some rotten, and most somewhere inbetween.
